My piece “Ghosts” for Pacific Wild’s Wild Auction fundraiser from November 9-12. Original pen, ink and watercolour on art board.
Imagine a world without Wild Salmon. Wild Salmon are a foundational species to life on the Pacific Northwest. People of all cultures and many species of wildlife depend on the marine-rich nutrients that they provide. Salmon watersheds provide clean drinking water, and because they are composed of flowing rivers and dense forests, they also absorb carbon to slow climate change. The commercial fishing industry supports local economy and communities along the coast. Between deforestation and destruction of natural habitats, fish farms, sea lice, natural predators, human industry, climate change, rising ocean temperatures, pollution and other threats, these incredible fish are in decline.
I’ve grown up as an illustrator on this coast and wild salmon have always been a big part of my life in one way or another. It saddens me to think of the potential future of these fish, but I do feel optimistic and believe that art and imagery will help connect people to these issues. I thank Pacific Wild for including art in their campaign fundraisers.
I feel pretty honoured to have been asked to join The Wickaninnish Inn to help ring in the new year as an ‘Artist In Action’. Looking forward to doing some drawing/painting in their super cozy Driftwood Café, while the forecasted wintery winds blow outside on Chesterman Beach! I'll be there at the following times. Come say hi!

It’s happening again! A coming together of artists, board sports, and conservation. A collaboration of local west coast artist selling original work to help raise awareness for coastal BC conservation. All the art is on well-loved and factory defect boards, giving them new life for years to come. The goal of the artist is to keep boards out of the landfill by upcycling them into art.
The show is organized by Ian Adams (Done Creative), Nick Hutton-Jay (HuttonJay Artist) & Helen Utsal (Artist Helen Utsal), and will showcase their work along with other west coast artist including: Andrea Mueller Art, Mia Dungeon, Claire Watson Art, Ross Bodenmann (RossArt.co), Gillian Brooks, Andrew Talbot & Marlo Wylie (with more to come).
As a proud member of 1% For The Planet, I’m tickled pink to be participating in the NetworkAuction. Now through December 9, support our planet and the 1% for the Planet network that gives back by bidding on my ‘Coastal Hunters’ Limited Edition Giclée Fine-Art Print (unframed). Treat yourself, or bid for a gift. 100% goes back to the planet. Win win I say.
