Who Am I
I’m Claire Victoria Watson, an artist, illustrator, and independent graphic designer based in Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC. Inspired by lived experience and the landscapes around me, I create artwork that connects people to the flora, fauna, and Pacific waters of the Northwest. Whether I’m working on commercial projects or personal pieces, my goal is to reflect the character, beauty, and spirit of the place we call home.

What I Do
I’m an independent creative professional with over 20 years of experience in graphic design and illustration.
I’ve worked with clients, brands, and organizations of all sizes, partnering with teams to shape ideas from early concept through to final execution. Beyond design itself, I bring strategic thinking, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to every project. My work spans illustration, logos and branding, typography, and children’s books. Clients include Patagonia, HSBC, Buff, BC Ferries, Surf Canada, Surfrider Foundation, and Tourism Vancouver Island. I’ve also designed six coins for the Royal Canadian Mint, including the circulation loonie honouring Elsie MacGill.

Originally created as rainy-day colouring pages for Tofino Time Magazine, these drawings are among my favourite works from my years living on the coast. Collected for the first time, they capture the freedom, adventure, and quiet wonder that define life on the Pacific edge.
